IRLE 80th Anniversary

Mission

In 2026, the UCLA Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE) celebrates 80 years of advancing worker justice, labor research and education. Since 1946, the UCLA IRLE has shaped labor policy and practice, supported the vitality of unions and community organizations and prepared researchers and organizers for careers of consequence. Today, the IRLE is home to a robust group of research, education and public engagement programs including the UCLA Labor Center, the Department of Labor Studies, the Labor Occupational Safety and Health Program (LOSH) and the Human Resources Round Table (HARRT). The IRLE also hosts research initiatives including the Entertainment and Media Research Initiative (EMRI), the Memory Work Research Initiative (MWRI) and the Strategic Research Lab.

To uplift our history and recognize the enduring contributions of our units and people, the IRLE will produce a special 80th anniversary digital content suite to be released in Fall 2026. Like a “digital magazine,” the 80th web content will present an engaging, thematically-driven chronology of the Institute and its various units over its 80-year history.

80th Campaign

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
