Labor Research During Authoritarianism

Workshop Description:

We are living in a moment of rising authoritarianism, threatening the livelihoods of so many across the globe. Reducing worker power is central to the Far Right’s ongoing attacks on our public and civil institutions. Now more than ever, our labor research must be attuned and responsive to this broader context, as we develop social movement strategies to defend democracy across workplaces and communities. Annie Wilkinson and Ethan Fauré from Political Research Associates will lead a training on how to better understand the forces we are up against and fight back

Workshop Leaders:

Annie Wilkinson, PhD and senior research analyst at Political Research Associates, is a researcher, educator, and movement strategist working at the intersections of academic and applied, social movement-facing research. As a feminist political anthropologist, her research focuses on Far Right organizing, authoritarianism, and anti-feminist/LGBTQ/gender movements in the US and transnationally.

Ethan Fauré is a senior research analyst at Political Research Associates and member of The Washington-Baltimore News Guild. With over a decade of experience researching right-wing and authoritarian actors, they work closely with other researchers, journalists, national organizations, and, grassroots activists to deepen their understanding of anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, and White nationalist movements.
