Biography

I'm an historian of 20th century U.S. social movements, with a focus on labor, race, and the U.S. West. Before moving to Southern California, I served as Project Coordinator for the Seattle Civil Rights and Labor History Project, and was co-author of Black Power at Work: Community Control, Affirmative Action, and the Construction Industry (Cornell Press, 2011). I've been active in faculty unions since moving to Southern California in 2015, and currently serve as Vice President of Legislation for the University Council-American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT), which represents lecturers and librarians in the University of California system.
