Announcing UCLA Labor Studies’ T-Shirt Design Contest

The UCLA Labor Studies Program is calling on undergraduate student artists to submit a T-shirt design for our first-ever Labor Studies T-shirt contest!  

Tell us how you view labor studies and/or the labor movement in the past, present, and/or future. The winning design will be featured on the back of the official 2024-2025 Labor Studies T-shirt. The winning designer will receive a $500 gift card and four free T-shirts.

Who qualifies:

Undergraduate full-time students, in good academic standing. Each participant is allowed to enter one design per academic year.

Important Dates:

  • All entries must be submitted by Thursday, October 31st.
  • The selection committee will notify the winner by Thursday, November 7th.
  • The final design will be announced in our weekly Labor Studies Newsletter on Monday, November 11th.

Design Rules:

  1. The design you submit must be your original work and you attest that it does not infringe or copyright the intellectual property rights of others.
  1. The design must relate to UCLA Labor Studies.
  1. Your design should not include profanity, racist or sexist tropes.
  1. Any references of specific organization(s) or institution(s) in a negative light are not allowed.

UCLA Branding – Color Limitations:

  1. The design will be printed on a white, blue, or gray tee shirt. Keep this in mind when working on your design.
  1. If you plan to use blues and golds they must align with UCLA color branding. You can find more information about UCLA’s color palette here. You are not limited to blues and golds, but should you opt to use them you must use UCLA brand colors.

Disqualifications:

  1. If you are not a current UCLA student.
  2. If you are not in good academic standing.
  3. If your design does not meet the design rules.

File Types and Requirements:

Photoshop: 1650X1688 and 150 dpi in RGB mode

Illustrator: Save the file in JPEG with quality 9, color model RGB, and medium resolution.
